Bob's Your Uncle, Tao Cafe and Grumpy Goose lead 11 Croydon brunch spots, with menu prices, hours and hygiene ratings, all checked on 27 October 2026.

For brunch in Croydon, most people land on Bob’s Your Uncle by South Croydon station, for eggs Benedict, shakshuka and a farmhouse hash at around £10; Tao Cafe in Ruskin Square, the all-vegetarian option beside East Croydon station; and Grumpy Goose in Coulsdon, walk-in only, whose head chef has a Michelin-kitchen background. Every entry was checked against the venue’s own site or a public listing on 27 October 2026.

We have not eaten at these places for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry gives what the venue says about itself on its own website or menu, its Food Standards Agency hygiene rating, and what public sources have recorded, including the Croydon Eats Out group’s monthly Brunch Club, which has met at several of them. Hours and prices change, so check before a special trip.

Town centre and East Croydon

Tao Cafe, Ruskin Square

Tao Cafe describes itself as an independent coffee shop “in the heart of East Croydon”, and its menu is fully vegetarian. Grumpy Goose, Dingwall Road

The Coulsdon cafe opened this second branch opposite East Croydon station in April 2026. Its page for the branch says it is built mainly for commuters, with grab-and-go food, coffee and pastries baked in-house, plus “a small selection of brunch dishes” for anyone who wants to sit down. The cafe does not publish a menu or hours for this branch on its site, so treat it as a quick stop rather than a long weekend brunch. Hygiene rating 5 (FSA, 10 April 2026). Email hello@grumpygoosecafe.com. Amp House, 4 Dingwall Road, CR0 2LX.

Crushed Bean, High Street

Crushed Bean is a small independent on the High Street whose menu is built around toast rather than cooked breakfasts: mashed avocado (vegan, with smoked salmon or eggs to add), smoked salmon and cream cheese with capers and dill, crunchy peanut butter with granola and honey, and a spiced “Mumbai Cheese” toastie. Pastries come from DeBaere and soups appear in winter. The coffee is Clifton Coffee from Bristol, with V60 filter on request. The menu does not show prices. Hours: Monday to Friday 7.30am to 3pm; Saturday 9am to 3pm; closed Sunday. Hygiene rating 5 (FSA, 20 January 2025). 81 High Street, CR0 1QE. Our listing.

The Village Table, Park Lane

The Village Table opened in spring 2026 overlooking Queen’s Gardens and calls itself “more than a coffee lounge”, with co-working space by day and soul, poetry and cocktail evenings on selected nights. Breakfast is simple: tea and toast with jam, Marmite, peanut butter or honey, and avocado on sourdough with smoked salmon or an egg (fried, scrambled or boiled) to add, followed by toasties and rice bowls later in the day. The site does not list prices. Hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm; Saturday 9am to 4pm; Sunday closed except for events. Hygiene rating 4 (FSA, 28 March 2026). Email info@thevillagetable.co.uk. 40 Park Lane, CR0 1GX.

Two Brothers Cafe, St James’s Road

For a full English, Two Brothers is a family-run cafe five minutes’ walk from East Croydon station. Its site says it serves “morning brunch”, rolls, sandwiches, baguettes and dinners every day except Sunday. Its eight set breakfasts each come with a slice of bread or toast and run from £5.50 for egg, bacon, sausage and beans, through £6.10 for the sets with bubble, fried bread or black pudding, to £8 for the largest plates with chips or bubble, mushrooms and beans. Hours: Monday to Friday 6.30am to 4pm; Saturday 7am to 3pm; closed on Sundays and bank holidays. Hygiene rating 5 (FSA, 4 October 2025). Call 020 8689 8949. 222 St James’s Road, CR0 2BW. Our listing.

South Croydon

Bob’s Your Uncle, Selsdon Road

Bob’s Your Uncle sits by South Croydon station. Its site says it opened in July 2019 as a family-run business. On the Croydon brunch menu, eggs on toast with chilli jam is £8, avocado or mushroom toast £9, the breakfast bun and the bacon, egg and avocado “BAE Bun” £9.50 each, and shakshuka with feta, eggs royale, eggs Benedict and eggs Florentine £10 each. The farmhouse hash of sausage, bacon, potato and two eggs is £10.50, with a vegetarian version. The shakshuka and Florentine are marked vegetarian. Hours: Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4pm; Saturday and Sunday 8am to 4pm. Hygiene rating 5 (FSA, 10 May 2025). Call 020 8680 3400. 2 Selsdon Road, CR2 6PA.

Ayat Kitchen Lounge, South End

Ayat is in the South End restaurant quarter and is a venue the Croydon Eats Out group has returned to again and again for its Saturday Brunch Club since 2024, most recently on 12 September 2026. The group’s listing for that morning describes “an excellent selection of breakfasts”: an English fry-up, plus American and Mediterranean breakfasts. We could not find a website or published menu for Ayat, so prices and hours are not given here; call in or check its listing on a map app before going. Hygiene rating 4 (FSA, 30 April 2025). 49C South End, CR0 1BF. Our listing.

Marmaris Cafe, Mitchley Avenue

Marmaris Cafe is a neighbourhood cafe on Mitchley Avenue, on the edge of Riddlesdown. Croydon Eats Out took its Brunch Club there for the first time on 18 July 2026, its listing says, choosing it for its reviews and its closeness to Riddlesdown Common, where the group walked afterwards. That makes it a natural stop before or after a walk on the common. The cafe does not run a website we could find, so check hours before going. Hygiene rating 4 (FSA, 10 September 2026). 75 Mitchley Avenue, South Croydon, CR2 9HN. Our listing.

Purley, Coulsdon and Coombe Wood

Grumpy Goose, Coulsdon

The original Grumpy Goose is on Brighton Road in Coulsdon. Its site says the head chef, Lewis, has “a background in Michelin star cheffing” and describes the food as “elevated comfort food” made with fresh, local produce. Tables are walk-in only, with no bookings, and there are “plenty” of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Food can be ordered online for collection. Dogs are welcome as long as they behave. The site does not publish a menu or opening hours. Hygiene rating 5 (FSA, 22 August 2024). Email hello@grumpygoosecafe.com. 136 Brighton Road, Coulsdon, CR5 2ND.

The Class Café, Purley

The Class Café is a traditional cafe on Purley High Street. The Evening Standard’s Josh Barrie, who writes a column on London’s bacon and egg sandwiches, chose it in February 2024 and called the bacon and egg sandwich “by far the best option”, with crisp bacon and runny-yolked eggs. Its delivery menu on Deliveroo is mostly set fry-ups and breakfast sandwiches. The cafe has no website of its own, so check hours by phone. Hygiene rating 4 (FSA, 26 June 2026). Call 020 8660 1413. 48 High Street, Purley, CR8 2AA. Our listing.

Coach House Café, Coombe Wood

The Coach House Café sits in Coombe Wood, the council’s woodland garden off Coombe Road, which opened to the public in 1948, according to the council’s Coombe Wood leaflet. Croydon Eats Out, which held its Brunch Club there in June and August 2026, describes it as a bistro with “a selection of cooked breakfasts”, sandwiches, wraps, panini, cakes and burgers, and the chance to eat outdoors in the wood. Take the number 3 tram to Lloyd Park and walk about ten minutes. The cafe’s old website no longer loads, so check before a special trip. Hygiene rating 5 (FSA, 19 July 2025). Coombe Wood, Conduit Lane, CR0 5EQ.

How we chose

We started from the places that Croydon brunch guides, the Croydon BID and the Croydon Eats Out Brunch Club keep naming, and checked each against its own site or a recent public listing, and against the Food Standards Agency register, on 27 October 2026. Many of the bottomless brunch venues on older lists are gone: Mr Fox on Surrey Street closed in 2025 and its freehold was put up for sale, Inside Croydon reported, and the addresses once used by Turtle Bay, King of the South, Yumn Brasserie, The Store and the Breakfast Club at Boxpark are now registered to other businesses. We left out anywhere rated below 3 for hygiene: Le Bon Café on South End, where the Brunch Club meets on 14 November, was rated 2 in July 2025. Nobody listed has paid to be here.
