Harni Jananthan, 16, from Croydon, has won Miss Teen South London and a grand final place in Miss Teen Great Britain 2026. In her words, why she is taking part.

A 16-year-old from Croydon, Harni Jananthan, has been crowned Miss Teen South London and has won a place in the grand final of Miss Teen Great Britain 2026.

Harni told Croydon Today she came through a field of hundreds of teenagers from across Great Britain to reach the final.

In her own words

Harni says she wants to use the title to speak for girls who share her background, and for causes she cares about:

“I am incredibly grateful to have reached the grand final of Miss Teen Great Britain. I am proud to represent South Asian girls and identify as a British Tamil of Eelam Tamil heritage. I hope to inspire young women to embrace their identities with confidence and encourage young people to use social media positively and to raise awareness on social issues including knife crime and environmental responsibility.”
